May’s ‘Back to Basics’ Glossybox*

Oooh! this month’s Back to Basics Glossybox is gooood! Who doesn’t love getting a box of surprise goodies each month?

I’ve been thinking about signing up to subscription boxes for a while as I do love surprises and it will fulfill my need to try new products, although the last subscription box service I signed up to 18 months or so ago got a bit boring because of the samey products each month so I cancelled it, so I’m pleased to try a new one!

As you probably know, Glossybox is one of the more well-known and established boxes here in the UK so I think they manage to pull in some of the bigger brands to include some of their products such as Caudalie.  Each month you get five awesome products delivered to your door, beautifully wrapped and displayed in a baby pink box with black accents such as the bold lettering and ribbon.

There are different types of subscription durations available (a one off, 3 monthly, 12 monthly etc). so you can pick and choose to suit you.  I actually use the boxes the products arrive in to organise my makeup by fitting the base and lid side-by-side in my drawers – my little tip to you!

This months box is all about back to basics with staple products to look and feel good and included in the box are some fab products to clean, moisturise the skin, have a natural flush of blush and a multi-task balm to take care of a multitude of concerns 🙂

So, without further or do, lets get into the good stuff!

Lets start with the fabulous Girl Meets Brush fluffy eyeshadow blending brush (worth £7.95) – a great multi-tasker to blend and soften harsh lines, apply colour into the crease and define the outer corner.  I’ve covered this brand in a previous blog some time ago so it’s really lovely to see that the brand is doing so well and those that haven’t heard of them before who are getting this months’ Glossybox get to try it out! I am a big fan and I’m so glad to have another in my collection! The brush is made of soft luxe fibres and is cruelty free and vegan friendly (as are all of their brushes).

Next we have the biggest item in the box; the Scrub Love Charcoal Body Scrub (worth £13.95) is a body exfoliator that detoxifies, brightens the skin as well as combating puffiness.  It is natural and vegan friendly.  For some reason I thought it would be a dry mix a bit like the coffee ground scrubs you can buy in similar packaging.  This is more like a paste!  Massaged into the body it feels very scrubby – the natural beads of the scrub are the biggest I have used.  Once finished and rinsed off, the skin feels softened and ever so slightly moisturised due to the caring ingredients.  The one thing about this I am not keen on is the fragrance, the best way I can explain it is that it smells to me like yoghurt!

Next up we have Ruby’s beautiful coral blush (€14.99)… it is in very sleek, travel friendly packaging and is silky smooth to the touch.  Not having tried anything from this brand before (or even hearing about this brand before) I was a little skeptical about how it would apply and perform but I am pleasantly surprised.  I would say the shade is universally flattering to most skin tones and would go with a lot of makeup looks which is a good choice.  It is very pigmented so a little goes a long way, make sure you tap off the access before going in brush to cheek 😉

The Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet (worth £23.00) grabbed my attention because sorbet creams sound to me like it will sink in quickly which I enjoy – I am not a huge fan of creams that leave a sticky residue or take too long to sink into the skin on days where I am in a rush and I need to get out the house.  You get 10ml of product and the scent is very subtle.  Suitable for even sensitive skins I think a lot of people will love this.

Finally there is a generous 25ml sized tube of Dr Paw Paw original balm (worth £6.95).  Its a great multi-tasker balm that you can use on skin, cuticles, lips and taming unruly brows and flyaway hairs! I have used this product before and received a much smaller item in a Christmas beauty calendar.  Its a handbag friend because it has so many uses! it doesn’t feel overly oily or sticky either and doesn’t have a scent.

I think this months’ box is ace and I can’t wait to see what next month has to bring!

I hope you have enjoyed my review of the box and let me know if there is anything you’d like me to review!

Bye for now
